OH MY &*($ing---WHAT THE--?!

found this on stereogum.com (a pretty cool music site, albeit with a scary britney fixation), who found it on slash dot:

Google has added number span searching to their engine, so if you search mastercard 5424000000000000..5424999999999999 for example, Google searches the entire range against its DB and returns credit card #s, sometimes with names, addresses, and other information that you don't want people to know.

^&*%, what? i highly suggest NOT plugging in your own credit card number, as you'll become a target for spyware, but stick to ranges instead. you may not see your number, but i tried it and came up with some interesting information about a bunch of people.

ok. do you want to buy me a new car? because i wouldn't mind. however, don't tell me how you got it....i don't know what you or i should or could do about this, but just be careful with your personal information in the meantime!
